Manchester is a brilliant city to live in and Mancunians are justifiably proud of it. Here is why.
1. The music
Joy Division, The Smiths, Stone Roses, Oasis.. So many great bands have come from Manchester.
Manchester is a great city to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. Between the Gay Village and Manchester Pride, everyone is accepted for who they are.
3. It’s cosmopolitan
There are people from all over the world living in Manchester, making it a great melting pot. There are Jewish, Irish, Italian, Caribbean, and Chinese communities that are thriving in the city.
In 1948, the world’s first computer was produced and ran its first program at Manchester University.
5. Coronation Street
The beloved British soap that started back in the 60s came from Manchester
Manchester is home to two of the UK’s best team. Both City and United are making Mancunian proud. Just don’t ask which is better.
7. Political figures
Suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst was born in Manchester and Karl Marx and Frederich Engels began writing the Communist Manifesto at Chetham’s Library.
Nothing beats a night out at the Northern Quarter and Mancunians know that.
The delightful drink was invented in Manchester and everyone’s is very proud of it. There’s even a statue.
People in Manchester will talk to everyone and are great at making friends. Wherever you are, just start a conversation with someone arounds you and you’ll see.
