8 Easy Ways To Get A Better Work-Life Balance

Socializing Tips

As the old proverb goes, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Don’t worry though, with these 8 easy ways to get a better work-life balance you will not have the same problem

1. Leave work at work

No matter how many tasks need to be done, don’t take work at home with you. This will only get you more stressed and take away your time to relax.

2. Don’t take on more tasks than you can manage

It’s very tempting to say yes when someone asks you for help, but if your schedule is already full, taking on extra tasks will just stress you out or even make you underperform on your original tasks.

3. Don’t accept calls out of hours

It’s ok to be called for an emergency but make it clear that when you’re not in the office you are not available for work calls and whoever is trying to call you will receive a response during office hours.

4. Stop trying to be perfect

Striving for perfection may end up using more of your time than it should. If you don’t want to stay longer and miss out on your social or family responsibilities you need to learn when your work is ‘good enough’.

5.  Set priorities

Start from the most important task and set daily goals for what you want to achieve and what is ok if it doesn’t get done. Only worry about the day’s main task.

6. Take time to recharge

If you don’t allocate enough time to rest and relax you will burn yourself out. Make sure you use your time after work to rest and while at work schedule regular breaks even if just to make some tea and rest your eyes.

7. Use technology

Some of your daily tasks may be done faster if you use technology and automation. Take a day to search for services that can help you and you will save a lot of time in the long run.

8. Ask for help

If your tasks are more than you can manage ask for some help from your colleagues or speak with your manager. They might need to reallocate some of the work, reassess the time needed for it or help you work more efficiently.

Keep in mind you work so that you have free time and money to do the things you’re passionate about. If you don’t allow yourself the time then what’s the point? If your work has already taken over your life and you feel like going out a bit more check out the socials on citysocializer.
