Recently Robert Pattinson made the statement that he finds it difficult to meet new people and have new experiences – If a good looking, rich, Hollywood star finds it hard to go out and meet new people and do new things, how the hell are the rest of us meant to ??! OBVIOUSLY, Mr Pattinson hasn’t heard of citysocializer, I will have our people talk to his people, to talk to our people, to let him to talk to more of our people, and not as many of his people.
Robert, or Rpatz as I believe he is known, is talking of a problem that confronts more and more of us. People crave diversity in their social life now, they are unsatisfied with just a one dimensional social agenda. The previous generation is looking in bewilderment and awe at the online generation and how easily they connect with one another and how they crave experience over affluence.
A recent JWT Intelligence survey showed that, of the new connected generation (18-34), 72% would rather spend money on an experience than a material item, compared to 59% of baby boomers. The trend is emerging that we as a society value experiences more than material items. We have reached saturation point with materialism and entered the age of experiential.
Experiences can be solo or with a group but invariably, the best experiences are accentuated by the people you are with and likewise the best friendships and relationships are galvanised through shared experience. Meeting new people and doing new things are in a lot of ways intertwined and symbiotic. With more people looking to do both, platforms like citysocializer are becoming less a niche product for hardcore socializers and more a necessary tool for maximising your experience of life.
The excuses for not going out are dwindling. “There’s something I want to watch on TV” – Sky + , “I’m too tired” – Berrocca , “I don’t know anyone there, I don’t know where it is, I don’t know what is on tonight, I have no one to go out with” – citysocializer. Good times are out there now and more and more people are discovering them.
As for RPatz , well sir, challenge accepted. We here at citysocializer never leave anyone behind. We don’t accept that it is impossible to find new things to do or meet new people. To that end, I would like to now formally offer Mr. Pattinson a free years subscription to citysocializer. Ladies, form an orderly queue.
