Summer’s been and gone and soon we’ll have to say goodbye to the sunshine, warm weather and sandals for another year. However, September still has a few sunny days coming up and unless you can fit a quick holiday in your schedule, it will be a good idea to know some tips on how to make the most of what we can get here in England.
Garden Parties & BBQs
A party in your own back garden is a great way to get your buddies together, light up the barbecue to cook some sausages and burgers and sit outside enjoying the sun. The best part is that if it gets cloudy or suddenly starts raining, you can relocate inside the house and continue having fun until the rain stops, then go back out. Food and drinks are also cheaper and you get to play your own music.
For those of us who do not have a garden (or any friends with gardens we can take over), pubs with beer gardens are the next best thing. The same principle applies, sit outside while it’s warm, get inside if it rains. If you’re lucky, the pub will have outdoor heaters, to keep you warm even in colder weather and umbrellas to keep you dry while you enjoy your drinks.
For those who would rather live on the edge, a picnic in the park is still a great option to enjoy the last few days of sunshine. Put down a blanket, get a meal deal from the supermarket and enjoy the sun. Just make sure you can pack everything up fast in case of rain and that you have located the closest pub in advance, so you can move there once it starts getting dark.
Another great way to enjoy the outdoors while staying dry are canal boats. From canal boat rides and cocktail cruises to floating restaurants and cafes, you can enjoy the warm weather while technically being indoors. With all the benefits of an outdoor experience, an alternative view of the city from a different perspective and drinks served to your table, canal boat cruises and floating restaurants are a great way to enjoy the canal, come rain or sunshine.
