Londoners looking forward to introducing international visitors to the ‘Real London’ this summer and escaping the busy East End

Press releases

A new survey from CitySocialising, the online to offline social network to meet new people has revealed that *30% of Londoners will be avoiding socialising in East London this summer and looking for new areas to explore.

A further 24% of people living in London will be avoiding Central London completely in anticipation of the influx of new visitors to their city during the summer and the disruptions it will cause.

However according to the survey, over **51% of people are actually looking forward to socialising with new international visitors during the summer months. They just aren’t keen to do it in East and Central London and would prefer to show them an authentic British experience.

Over half of Londoners (52%) also think that the remainder of July and August will be the perfect time to discover new areas of London as they avoid their usual haunts in favour of the lesser trailed areas of West, South and North London.

Over 1000 respondents took part in the survey commissioned by CitySocialising, prompting the company to launch their ‘Discover London’ series of social activities to bring visitors and Londoners together to explore a different side of London and make new international friends in the process.

The Discover series will take people on an exploratory mission to enjoy the local social scenes across North, West and South London, away from the expected mayhem of central and East London, and will help forge new international friendships between London locals and visitors to the city.

Activities range from visiting the best real ale pubs, the best places for Sunday roasts and afternoon tea in London to discovering beer gardens and picnic spots in famous areas like Wimbledon, Hampstead and Notting Hill as well as the lesser known spots like Brixton and Kennington, presenting a great opportunity for both visitors and local Londoners to enjoy an authentic British social experience.

Beyond London CitySocialising will also be hosting their ‘Best of British’ range of activities across eight other major cities in the UK including Manchester, Brighton and Liverpool.

CEO & founder Sanchita Saha commented:

“In London alone we have 60, 000 locals each with a different story to tell and a different place that they’ve unearthed and want to share.”
