Things To Do: citysocializer Top 5 New Bar, Restaurant and Popup Openings

Things to do

Looking for some social inspiration this weekend? Not sure what you’re in the mood for? Here citysocializer have rounded up our top 5 new openings and events happening this bank holiday weekend and beyond. For more inspiration also check out the UK’s Top 5 quirkiest bars.

London - Smokey Tails, popup bar and BBQ

Smokey Tails the latest popup to erm.. pop up in Hackney Wick is brought to you by DJ Seth Troxler and friends. It’s received a lot of hype prior to launch and has been packed out every day for the first couple of weekends. They’ll be serving up smoked meats and frozen cocktails every Thursday- Sunday throughout the summer and Seths even promised to bring his own ‘special sauce’. It’s a great place to catch the sun and heckle the canal boats that pass by, as well as hear some great DJ’s and of course stuff your face.

Insider info: . The frozen watermelon cocktails are delicious – although at £7.50 a go, slightly more than you’ll be used to forking out in Hackney Wick.

Liverpool - Almost Famous, New Restaurant & Bar

Their filthy burgers and inventively named cocktails ensured Almost Famous was an instant hit when they originally launched in Manchester, with people queuing down the street to get their hands on one of their beef pattys. That was until, unfortunately, it burned down. But not letting that hiccup discourage them, the boys are back in their new home of Liverpool and we’re expecting the venue to be just as popular as it’s predecessor.

Insider Info: While trying to tackle the tripple decker “Kids in America” burger earlier this week, one eager diner made headlines after she managed to dislocated her jaw. – LEGEND.

Manchester - Gincident 2013, Gin on a barge

Now in it’s fourth year the liquorists are setting sail once again on their gin fuelled barge to educate Manchester in the art of Gin. At £55 tickets are a little on the pricey side however once aboard it’s quickly evident what you’re paying for. An abundance of gin cocktails flow throughout the cruise, you’ll learn some fun gin facts during the gin seminar (which is much more interesting than it sounds), and you’ll be treated to a ‘botanical feast’ – which not only gives you a much needed lining on your stomach but is culinary delight.

Insider info: The clues in the name, if you’re not a gin fanatic (but why wouldn’t you be) this one probably isn’t for you.

London - Future Cinema presents Dirty Dancing

Much to our delight Future Cinema are back with their latest theatrical cinema production, this time transporting you to Kerllermans Summer resort to have the ‘time of your life’ (sorry) and join Baby and Jonny for Dirty Dancing. Tickets are £35 and in our opinion worth every penny as past productions have seen organisers and actors pull out all the stops to bring you an authentic experience.

Dirty Dancing Postcard

Insider info:  If you can’t make the main event, the ‘secret’ staff after party is where the late night fun is at from 11pm – 4am. Tickets for this are £20 (or £15 with a day ticket) and you can expect to be hip shaking to all the hits from the film.

Manchester - Atisan, New Restaurant opening

Set on a mission to take over Manchester, Living Ventures have opened up another restaurant boasting their signature style. They have definitely got the magic formula and a little over a month from opening we’re hearing nothing but good things about this industrial space come bar-restaurant. The interior boasts impressive art installations and bright bold design and the food is as impressive as it’s surroundings. Definitely one to head down to with a group of friends.

Artisan.Manchester

Insider Info: You need the apple pie cooler cocktail in your life (it’s delicious) and women’s loo’s have even been described as ‘Incredible’ by Rachel our Community Ops Manager – wow
